Scale and proportion work hand in hand. In interior decorating, scale means the size of the object as it is related to its surrounding. This would include people and the size of space itself. On the other hand, proportion refers to the relationship of parts or objects to one another based on the size. For example, it could mean the size of window to the size of the room.
Good scale is achieved when all of the parts are proportionately correct in relation to each other, and also to the whole. Learning how to select the correct scale and proportion is an art and take alot of patience and experimentation with various objects and arrangement. So do not give up and keep trying!
