You need to be imaginative when planning for the use of lighting in the bathroom. Good bathroom lighting can create the mood you desire, be it romantic, dramatic or comfortable.
We need bright lighting for activities like shaving while gentle lighting will be good for a relaxing shower. In the past, we use ceiling mounted lights but nowadays, hidden and unobstrusive lighting are preferred.
Lights around the mirror or under cabinets and spotlights will be perfect for directing light where you want it and wall lights, up-lighters and down lighters will be ideal for creating the perfect mood for a steamy environment! 
Use tungsten filament for a near daylight effect while a low voltage halogen bulb will be more suitable for use as spotlight.
But always observe safety measures. Lights should be sealed against condensation and moisture.
