The most popular form of outdoor lighting and is the oldest form of lighting source. It is the same as the 40 hour bulb patented by Thomas Edison in 1879. (See Lighting design)
Incandescent light is basically a thin filament wire in a vacuum within a sealed glass container on a screw in metal base. When electric current is passed through the wire, it becomes white hot and generate a warm yellowish light.
In today’s market, you can get incandescent light, made of tungsten filament. They are often available in clear or frosted glass with a great variety of shapes and sizes to choose from.
