The marked difference between adult ’s room and a children’ s room is that the room required for growing. An adult bedroom can remain the same for a number of years but a nursery will soon becomea child ’s room and then a teenager’ s room in corporating several design and furniture changes.

A nursery will requires a cot, a small storage area and a place to wash and change the baby. Over time, the cot will be replaced by the children bed . You can add wallpapers featuring the favourite cartoon characters . Flexibility is the concept when planning for a children’ s room. I have mentioned it in my previous post Tips for planning  children’ s room.

Planning for children bedroom is not easy. You have to consider the flooring cover and it should be sound proof, durable and warm.

Safety is also important when it comes to children. Babies can be mobile and may reach out for hot radiator. Young children have the tendency of climbing onto beds and chairs. So remember that windows have to be secured. If possible, install a grill for the window.

Light switches should be make available to children but you must remember that light fittings should be kept out of their reach. Never place a bed directly over a hanging light fitting! Powerpoint should be fitted with special plug covers to provide children from touching them directly.
