The colour we use in our home affect our mood and also affect our perception of space. When decorating small space, we must always remember that we should not make it feel even more cramped and tight.
In the case of a small room, we should try not to use strong colours as it is too dominating for a small room. When deciding the colour tone of a room, we must always bear in mind that colours that look good in one room does not neccessary look good in another. The size of the room is closely related to the colour used.
What are the tips to enlarge a small space?
-Heightened the feeling of low ceiling by painting them a paler tone than the rest of the room. Likewise, if you wish to create the feeling of a low ceiling, you can paint it a shade or two darker than the walls
-Open up small rooms by decorating them with pale shades
-visually widen narrow rooms by applying a paler tone colour on the longer side of the wall. Use deeper shade of colour on the shorter side of the wall.
-paint niches in the wall with accent colours so that they stand out as the focal point
Before I end this post, I must remind you again that enlarging a small space with colour is a very simple technique. Simply remember that paler tone colour tends to visually enlarge a space while a darker colour draw your sight.
Have fun!
