Mies Van de Rohe, the famous modern architect said ‘ Less is More’. What is less? How do we create ‘Less’?
Cluttering of the home ends to visually accentuate the potentially cramped look of small spaces. This is especially true in most Asian homes like Hongkong and Singapore apartment. Hence, my advice for you is to limit the number of furniture you have for your room.
For decorative items, use a few larger decorative pieces rather than having many small ones. I understand that most homes have many day to day appliances that are hard to keep at times. My suggestion for you is to organise these appliances and hide it behind efficient closets.
Here are some interesting tips on furniture decoration.
First Tip: Work out your storage needs before building or buying your shelves.
How many times have we been frustrated over the lack of shelving spaces at home. If possible, get a design to fit cupboard
Second Tip: Run storage all along one wall
The closet will not take up much space within the room. And a beautiful designed cupboard can enhanced the appearance of the room itself.
Third Tip: Less is More!
Think minimal and choose only really useful pieces of furniture. Stop short at buying alot of small furniture as one or two large furnitures will certaintly fit into the home decoration easily!
