Architrave is the moulded or carved part of the frame surrounding a door or window opening.
It serves the function of hiding the join between the structural part of the frame and the walls as well as giving the door opening an imposing look. Normally, it is made from profiled softwood or man-made boards such as medium-density fibreboard or fibrous plaster.
In today modern design, architraves are relatively plain, although historical designs are also available. To draw attention to the mouldings , you can try painting it in a colour that contrast or compliment that of the door.
