If your kitchen units are in good condition and you are satisfied with the layout, or you are under a budget, then you can save time and effort by updating them rather than ripping them apart.
If you have shabby cabinets, you can transform them with a coat of clean colour. You can use gloss finishes for a smooth surface with a washable finish. You can also try a couple of coats of good quality clear vanish for extra protection if the room is in a busy family area or subjected to a lot of wear and tear.
You can also change the door and drawer handles. They do not cause as much as changing the whole kitchen units but will improve the looks of your drawers. Look for unobtrusive metal drawer pulls or long D-shaped handles. Keep in mind that handles must be easily to clean. You can add some element of fun by selecting handles with distinctive geometrical shapes.
For a more advanced make over, you can keep the basic units but remove the original doors and attach new ones. There are many ways to improve the looks of your kitchen units without having to spend a great deal of money. So check with your kitchen specialist to find out more about giving your fittings a new look!
