Having the right flooring in a home improve the aesthetic and functionality of your house. When choosing a flooring material, one must determine what elements the flooring will subject itself too. For example, when installing flooring in a bathroom, it would be wiser to use a ceramic tile or equivalent due to the moisture content associated to water spillage. Similarly, one would choose wood flooring with sound insulation for hallway.
Do notice that you need a subfloor for you floor finishes. A subfloor is an underlayment made of plywood or concrete that supports a finished floor. The subfloor should be level and solid. You can try using a self-leveling epoxy or Durorock to level a subfloor. Some of the flooring that I would recommend are as followed:
Hardwood flooring: There are a variety of hardwoods to consider - Oak, cherry, beech, ash. These flooring are purely hardwood and comes in a variety of widths. Standard widths are 2 ¼ up to 5 inches. Felt paper is used underneath for moisture control. Normally, hardwood flooring is then finished with a urethane product to finish specifications.
Laminate flooring: Laminate flooring is a mixture of synthetic materials combined with natural wood or stone materials. You can install laminate flooring throughout the home. It usually cheaper to purchase and maintain. You can select a wide variety of sizes and it comes in a variety of finishes.
Tile flooring: Tile flooring comes in an array of different materials and textures. Tile floors are usually prefered in kitchens and bathrooms because of their water resistance. Some of the more common types of tile are ceramic tile, which is a clay-based mixture.
