How to decorate children’ s room?

A good designer will always sit down and talk to the child and parents before going about the design. The child will provide information about  personal preferences and from the parents, a designer can get information about how the room should function. Functions of a room should not be overlook. Too often, designers tend to concentrate only on the aesthetic part of the design and forget about the function.

As I have mentioned in my other posts on designing children’ s room, I strongly urge designers to keep in mind the fact that a child will be growing and hence, the room will need to be able to adapt to the different phases of his growth.

Furnishings for a children’ s room should be selected according to how the space will function. A full size bed tends to be more practical in rooms where friends can use the bed for seating.  Children need their own space and hence, give them plenty of freedom for deciding what they want. A child’ s room should be lively, exciting and full of fun.

Trundle beds and bunk beds are good in children ’s room to accomodate sleepovers. Flooring should be very durable and comfortable for them to sit down and play. you should also plan for a study table with book shelves once they start to go to school.

  1. When decorating children’s room also consider about the different ways of storing children’s stuff like clothing and toys.

Along with room decoration if you provide more storage options then it will be a well organized room with more free space for other activities to children’s play
